Admission and Get Started Details
Applying for Admission
Students must submit their application to EvCC via the Online Admissions Application Portal (OAAP). Some programs may require specific admissions applications.
Once the application is processed, a letter of admissions will be sent to the email address provided in the application. The letter will include the student’s ctcLink ID number and next steps, including ctcLink activation, placement, advising, and registration.
New Students
Applications for new students are accepted on an ongoing basis. However, it is recommended that students apply at least two weeks prior to open enrollment. This will ensure time to complete the “Get Started” steps and be ready to register. For more information, visit EverettCC.edu/GetStarted.
New students that have not enrolled within 4 quarters of their application term must re-apply.
Current Students
Students who maintain continuous enrollment do not need to re-apply for admission each quarter. Students are responsible to ensure their information is up to date in the student information system, ctcLink.
Students who have not attended EvCC in the last 4 quarters must reapply as a returning student.
Students Returning after an Absence
Students who have been absent more than 4 quarters and wish to return need to complete a new application and may register during Open Enrollment. Please see our Important Dates and Deadlines calendar, EverettCC.edu/Deadlines.
Returning students can find out more information online at EverettCC.edu/Returning.
Admission Procedures for Transfer Students
New transfer students should follow and complete the Get Started list at EverettCC.edu/GetStarted.
In order to transfer credits to EvCC, students are responsible for contacting other institutions they have attended and requesting their official transcripts be sent to the EvCC Enrollment Services office.
Placement
New students who wish to register for more than seven credits or who are planning to enroll in classes with math and/or English prerequisites must obtain math and/or English placement prior to registering for classes. Placement requirements assist students and advisors in selecting the right courses for student success. Please visit the placement page for additional information at Everettcc.edu/Placement.
Placement Reciprocity
At all Washington community and technical colleges, system policy states that a student who qualifies for entry into a math or English class, either through course completion or local skills assessment, will be considered to have equivalent placements in those disciplines at every community and technical college in the state even if the course titles may not be exact equivalents. Placement reciprocity is embedded in the placement process at EvCC.
Online Orientation and Advising
As part of the entry and registration process, orientation and advising are available to newly admitted students.
Orientation is optional for all new students and some students who have participated in off-campus, college-level courses while still in high school. Students may complete orientation online at their own pace. (Everettcc.edu/Orientation)
Entry Advising is mandatory for most new students. Advisors aid students in planning their class schedules, selecting a pathway, and identifying goals and success strategies. Degree-seeking students are recommended to meet with their faculty advisor. Visit EverettCC.edu/Advising for information about entry advising and for a list of majors and programs that are exempt from the entry advising requirement.
College Success Course
New degree-seeking students are required to take the college success course. Students may choose between College Success 101, Health Professions 101 or STEM 101. During entry advising, students will be advised into the appropriate course for their goals.
Admission Procedures for Selective Programs
Admission to EvCC does not guarantee admission to a particular program or course like our Nursing or Accounting BAS. Students should consult the program’s website or program checklist for specific admission requirements for major fields or programs of study. Program checklists are available at EverettCC.edu/CGuides.
