ENGL 263 The Holocaust In Lit

Study of the portrayal of the Holocaust in fictional genres. Issues addressed include the adequacy of language in the face of atrocity; the tension between the expectation of authenticity and accuracy, and the literary imagination; literature's role in liberating the silenced voices of persecuted minorities and the resonance of these voices with contemporary American concerns.
