FIRE 124 Haz Mat Awareness/Ops
Awareness and operations level study of explosive, toxic, and hazardous materials with emphasis on intelligently handling fire situations. Students will learn to recognize and identify hazardous materials through introduction to systematic classification of relationships between groups of materials with similar characteristics, showing how and where they are used. Students will learn to evaluate shipping documentation for dangerous materials identification, and learn where assistance can be found for hazardous materials emergencies. Meets the requirements for National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 472. Assesses Core Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 3, 6.
