GS 105 Global Issues Through Film

Examination of contemporary global issues, drawing on films beyond the Hollywood perspective. Topics include the global economy and capitalism, scarcity and distribution of natural resources, global health issues, natural disasters and their effects, and religious/ethnic oppression and conflicts. Films and readings focus on and mostly originate from local and/or native perspectives around the world. Writing assignments represent a significant component of coursework.
