PSYC 180 Drugs, Behavior and Society

Introduction to psychopharmacology (the study of the effects of drugs on the brain and behavior) and the processes of drug addiction. An overview of drug use historically and in contemporary society from community and biopsychosocial perspectives. Examines strategies for drug abuse prevention/education and intervention approaches. Explores issues surrounding drug use and its relationship to crime, medicalization in our society, and various movements aimed at drugs.
