Medical Coding Certificate (MICMCC45) Active: Su 2025
Students may take either the Medical Coding or the Medical Billing Specialist Certificate programs as stand-alone programs, or they may take them as part of their ATA in Medical Billing and Coding. Several classes overlap between the two programs, so it is important to note that some classes are offered as self-support and some as state support. For out-of-state students, the state support classes are subject to out-of-state tuition, so you may want to discuss this with Financial Aid or other funding sources.
EvCC's Medical Coding program is approved by AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association). Upon completion, students are eligible to take the AHIMA's Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam, providing them with a nationally-recognized standard of achievement in medical coding.

The Medical Billing and Coding department offers credit for industry certifications from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). A complete list of accepted certificates is available on the Medical Billing and Coding homepage. For those students who have worked in medical billing or coding, but do not have a certificate, they may be eligible to seek credit through a prior learning portfolio. Information about certificate crosswalks and the prior learning portfolio is available on the EvCC ACPL website.

- All courses must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or higher. A course earning a C- or lower will need to be repeated.

EvCC Residency Units Requirement
To be eligible to earn a diploma at EvCC for any certificate, at least one-third of the units must be earned at Everett Community College and apply towards the certificate being earned. These units must be traditionally graded and calculated in the EvCC GPA.
Required Residency Units: 22 minimum
Additional Graduation Requirements
In addition to the applicable Diversity and Residency Units requirements, EvCC has other graduation requirements for all certificates and degrees, including which version of credential requirements should be met, a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0, fulfillment of all obligations to the college (financial or otherwise), and filing of an application for graduation.
