BUS& 201 Business Law

Examination of the legal environment that shapes business decision-making. Exploration of the sources of laws impacting business, the role of courts and legal procedures, the formation, performance and breach of contracts, sales transactions under common law and Articles 2 and 3 of the Uniform Commercial Code, business entity formation decisions, torts and strict liability, agency and employment, consumer protection laws and product liability, ethics and corporate social responsibility, and government regulation. Examination of real-world business scenarios and contemporary examples—including emerging issues such as data privacy, AI and globalization—with a focus on practical understanding of the rights, obligations and responsibilities of businesses.
