MC 120 Applied Medical Terminology

Practical application of medical terminology as it relates to the healthcare management setting. This course introduces the principles of medical word building through the study of prefixes, suffixes, root words, medical abbreviations, and selected eponyms related to all body systems. Emphasis is placed on the application of medical terminology within anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, diagnostics, clinical laboratory testing, treatments, and procedures. Through participation in a structured language lab, students develop the ability to accurately spell, pronounce, interpret, and apply medical terms in clinical and administrative contexts. Equivalent to HCM120. Credit cannot be earned in both HCM120 and MC120.
