Early Childhood Education Specialization in School Age Care Certificate

Overview

ECE State Short: School Age Care Certificate (ECESAC20) Active: F 2018

  • Completion of First Aid, CPR and HIV Certifications will be required prior to employment.
  • The Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) requires a State Short Early Childhood Education Certificate of Specialization within 5 years of obtaining the State Initial certificate. The options are:
    • Early Childhood Education - General
    • Infants and Toddlers
    • Administration
    • Family Childcare Management
    • School Age Care (this one)
  • The Early Childhood Education department offers credit for Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials. A complete list of accepted certificates is available on the Early Childhood Education department homepage. For those students who have worked in Early Childhood Education, but do not have a certificate, they may be eligible to seek credit through a prior learning portfolio. Information about certificate crosswalks and the prior learning portfolio is available on the EvCC ACPL website.

  • All courses must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or higher.

EvCC Residency Units Requirement

To be eligible to earn a diploma at EvCC for any certificate, at least one-third of the units must be earned at Everett Community College and apply towards the certificate being earned. These units must be traditionally graded and calculated in the EvCC GPA.

Required Residency Units: 7 minimum

Additional Graduation Requirements

In addition to the applicable Diversity and Residency Units requirements, EvCC has other graduation requirements for all certificates and degrees, including which version of credential requirements should be met, a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0, fulfillment of all obligations to the college (financial or otherwise), and filing of an application for graduation.
