Overview

Associate in Computer Science DTA-MRP Active: Fall 2026

An Associate in Computer Science Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA) - Major Ready Program (MRP) is awarded for completion of a program of study designed primarily for transfer to a four-year college or university. The degree meets statewide transfer guidelines, often referred to as the direct transfer degree, or DTA.

Requirements

Minimum of 90 units with possible additional prerequisites (see list below).

    • This degree plan is targeted at transfer students with an interest in a COMPUTER SCIENCE major at a university.
    • A minimum 2.0 GPA is required for this degree. Computer Science transfer programs may require a higher GPA overall or a higher GPA in specific courses.
    • Be sure to verify current admission requirements with your target institution.

There may be course-level and GPA grade requirements; be sure to discuss this with your advisor.

Prerequisites:

    • Complete ENGL 98 or place into ENGL& 101
    • Complete CS 110, ENGR 121, or STEM 103 before CS& 131 or CS& 141
    • Complete MATH& 144 or MATH&142 or place into MATH& 151
    • Complete PHYS& 114 or place into PHYS& 241
    • Complete CHEM& 140 or place into CHEM& 161

College Success - 2 units

A College Success course is mandatory for all new degree-seeking students. The class may be waived due to previous college coursework or the specific course of study. Certain programs are exempt from this requirement; please see the Academic Guidelines and Procedures for details.

Select courses from the DTA Approved Humanities course list. Courses must be from 2 different disciplines. Note: All World Languages count as 1 discipline. No more than 5 Humanities Performance (HP) units or 5 100-level World Language (WL) units may be used to fulfill this requirement. Any additional Humanities units beyond 15 will be counted towards your Electives.

No more than 10 units in any one discipline may be applied across the Humanities, Social Science, and Natural Science distribution areas.

10 units from any lab science intended for science and engineering majors. No more than 5 units from Part C: Other Science courses may be used to fulfill this requirement. Any additional Natural Science units beyond 15 will be counted towards your Electives.

*Course required for BS degree, but typically taken in junior year and not required to transfer with junior standing. Completion at EvCC is recommended if there is space in your schedule for improved junior year preparation.
