ART H 226 Art and Social Justice
Survey of the intersection of art, civic engagement, and social justice in post-1960's America. Examination of and reflection on how artists have responded to and engaged with pressing societal issues. Themes may include Identity and Representation, Activism through Art, Community Engagement, Art as Resistance, Technology and New Media, and Ethics in the Artist Practice. May include art making, as well as written reflection. No prior art making experience needed.
