Aviation Maintenance Technology Part 147

Overview

FAA Approved Part 147 Curriculum

Airframe and Powerplant License Preparation: 160 units

To work as an aviation maintenance technician, students must possess a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Mechanic certificate with Airframe and/or Powerplant ratings. This certificate (license) is granted to students who complete the 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 147 program and pass the FAA written and practical & oral exams for each rating.

This curriculum is preparation for the FAA AMT License only. There is no EvCC credential awarded with this. It is not eligible for financial aid.

Aviation Maintenance Technology Certificate and Degree Opportunities

With an A&P License or an AMT Certificate with A&P Ratings (or Aviation Program Certificate) students may be awarded sixty (60) units after completing 15 or 30 required residency units at EvCC that can be used toward the following:

  • Aviation Maintenance Technology Certificate with 15 units of general education courses.
  • Aviation Maintenance Technology ATA degree with 30 units of general education courses.
  • Aviation Maintenance Technology AAS-T degree with 30 units of general education courses, intended for transfer to a specific university for a bachelor’s degree.

AMTS (Part 147) Requirements

Admission Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or equivalent certificate
  • Per FAA regulation, ability to read, write, and speak the English language
  • Eligibility for ENGL& 101 and MATH 86
  • Completion of Aviation Information Session within two years of curriculum admission
  • Completion of mandatory orientation prior to beginning curriculum

Additional Requirements

  • ENGL 98 or ENGL& 101 and MATH 86 or higher are required prerequisites
  • Grade of a C- or higher (1.7 or 70%) in all AMTS (Part 147) classes
  • FAA required hours and coursework
