Center for Disability Services

Center for Disability Services (CDS)

The Center for Disability Services (CDS) assists students with documented disabilities to establish and receive academic accommodations while attending Everett Community College. Please note: The accommodation approval process in higher education is significantly different from the K-12 system.

Approved Accommodations

Accommodations are determined through an interactive process with the student and may include:

  • Testing accommodations
  • Classroom access (such as lecture capture)
  • Physical campus access (such as accessible classrooms)
  • Communication & Technology: American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters, Alternative Format Texts (AFT), and Assistive Technology (AT)

How to Apply for Services

  1. Submit the Application: Fill out the online form available on the EvCC CDS Website.
  2. Provide Documentation: Submit supporting documentation alongside your application. Review the guidelines on the CDS Documentation Requirements page.
  3. Schedule an Intake: Once your application is received, a staff member will contact you within two business days to schedule either a virtual or in-person intake appointment.

Critical Timeline Note: Students requesting complex accommodations—such as Alternative Format Texts (AFT) or ASL interpreters—must submit their applications at least 6 weeks before the start of classes. These accommodations require extensive coordination with external agencies to fulfill.
